The banca and flitches were apprehended near the mouth of Pinag-agan River in Barangay Pagitan, Panukulan, Quezon by the PGENRO-AILTF team led by Darwin Combalicer. Combalicer reported that those manning the boat jumped off and abandoned the boat and cargo upon seeing the PGENRO patrol boat. His team brought the boat to the beach near the Philipine Navy headquarters in Infanta, Quezon.

Oplan Mareinaua-Pogi team leader, DENR-Real OIC-CENRO Miliarete Panaligan said it was not the best way to celebrate an anniversary—the DENR’s 28th Anniversary, but her team of forest protection officers were on field at midday of June 10, 2015 conducting anti-illegal logging ops. She sent a spot report to DENR Calabarzon Regional Direcor Reynulfo Juan on the apprehension 65 narra (Pterocarpus indicus) premium species of wood with an aggregate volume of 2,920 board feet. She reported that the boat and its hot cargo were under the custody of the the PGENRO-AILTF, Governor’s Office, “for safekeeping purposes pending investigation.”

She however reported that a Dominic Llamas, who was also known as “Wo,” approached her men, including CENR-Real Extension Officer Rexmel Telan and PGENRO-AILTF team leader Darwin Combalicer and claimed ownership of the boat, and that it should be released to him. She gave strict orders to take photographs of Dominic Llamas for identification purposes and not to release the boat. She further instructed the group to disengage the battery and propeller. She said that if Llamas insists, he could be subject of arrest and the appropriate charges may be filed against him.
