DENR 4A’s ‘Daluy-Nungan’ Drive Inspires Kids to be Environmental Advocates
The pledge for the environment. Pupils of Buenavista-Cigaras Elementary School, Sta. Cruz, Laguna vow to taking care of the environment during the “Daluy-Nungan” education and awareness campaign of the DENR4A-MBCO held September 18, 2017.
Monday morning and rain was not falling. It was the day to declare that, finally, the sun was out because it had been raining for weeks due to the Tropical Depression Maring.
It was September 18, 2017 and the environmental warriors of the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON-Manila Bay Coordinating Office (DENR4A-MBCO) were set to visit the Buenavista-Cigaras Elementary School in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, one of the areas affected by Maring.
Dressed on their uniforms, seated on semi-perfectly aligned chairs, clustered by grade levels, more than 300 Grades 4 to 6 pupils greeted the DENR4A-MBCO with warm smiles and clapping hands. They were having heavy anticipations for the visitors -- for what will happen, and for what will they learn; it was evident in their eyes.

The spirit of volunteerism flared as communities and various stakeholders converge for the 32nd International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) on September 16, 2017 in Barangay Digman, Bacoor City, Cavite.
Just as the celebration theme “Sama-sama para sa Karagatan”, volunteers from the Bacoor Government Center; Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON; Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), Cavite; Cavite State University; Bacoor National High School-Tabing Dagat; Toyota-Bacoor; St. Dominic College of Asia; Saint Francis of Assisi College; Bacoor Public Safety Unit; City Social Welfare and Development; University of Perpetual Help-Molino; Family Care Development Center; Bureau of Jail Management and Penology; Bureau of Fire Protection; Philippine National Police; Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary; and Brother Guardians come together, through the initiative of the City Government of Bacoor, all for a clean and healthy ocean.

DENR 4A warned on bird flu outbreak, calls on public to protect migratory birds
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Policy, Planning and International Affairs, Atty. Jonas R. Leones, alerted the DENR CALABARZON Region, along with all other regional offices, regarding the Avian Influenza outbreak in the province of Pampanga which was reported by the Department of Agriculture (DA) thru a television program aired last August 11.
The DA-Bureau of Animal Industry issued on the same date a temporary ban on the movement of live domestic and wild birds, including its products such as poultry meat, eggs, semen and manure, from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao to prevent further spread of the disease.
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) defined Avian Influenza, also known as “bird flu”, as an infectious bird disease caused by Type A Influenza viruses which commonly infect poultry such as domestic chickens and ducks, and many types of wild birds.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON Regional Director Arsenio Tanchuling calls for the development of social protection programs for marginalized sectors in forestland and protected areas, during the Sierra Madre Summit held July 26-27, 2017.
Barangay Captain Rogelio Valencia of Pagsangahan, Quezon, whose constituents are mostly katutubo (indigenous peoples), agreed with Regional Director Arsenio Tanchuling of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) regarding his statement on implementing social protection programs for marginalized sectors, during the Sierra Madre Summit held on July 26-27, 2017 at the Hive Hotel and Convention Place, Quezon City.
The event was a joint meeting of various stakeholders in Regions 2, 3 and 4A, which aimed to discuss the current status and issues within the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, and comprehensively plan appropriate actions to prevent the continuing environmental degradation in the area.

DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Gilbert C. Gonzales begins his message by acknowledging the 2019 accomplishments of CALABARZON officials as he called the names of the Regional Directors for Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Environment and Management Bureau (EMB), Assistant Regional Directors (ARDs) as well as the Division heads, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officers (PENROs), and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers (CENROs) together with their Technical Services Division (TSD) and Management Services Division (MSD) Heads. He mentioned that most of the key officials had served the DENR for a longer period, thus, became experts and legends in accomplishing the targets of Region IV-A. Noting that all officials of CALABARZON are indeed responsible and dependable.
